City of Bath College

City of Bath College attracted around 2000 full-time and over 9000 part-time students last year and, with its extensive curriculum and superb city centre and heritage-rich location, it certainly has a lot to offer to its students.

Our Brief

In a highly changing and challenging environment, the Principal requires the highest level of human resources support at both a strategic and business partnership level. The Principal was particularly keen to develop HR competence from within the college itself.

How we helped

We worked with the Human Resources team to:

  • Define a Human Resources vision and principles that supports the overall strategy of City of Bath College.
  • Guide and focus the team to deliver the vision and human resources support required by the Principal and other stakeholders.
  • Outline individual growth plans for each HR team member and provide a clear infrastructure of succession for the future development of the department.
  • Nurture and guide the team to confident and strategic decision- making.
  • ‘Step up’ from administration roles to HR business support/partnership roles.

    The Results

Insight worked closely with the HR team providing advice and guidance to define and present its objectives to the senior management team and as a result of the interventions the team indicated that all members felt:
  • Empowered to be creative and to execute new ideas
  • Able to challenge more openly
  • Focussed on their own personal development and growth
